Oiled For Impact

Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee."

Stop doing it afraid; Do it anointed. Let the anointing empower you and set you apart. Don’t rely on you. You’re not anointed for approval, you’re anointed for impact!

There is something sacred about the anointing oil and the act of anointing throughout the Bible. From sustaining the fire in the tabernacle, to setting David apart for the throne, to healing the sick, and even as sacrificial worship at the feet of our King. This seemingly insignificant ‘golden’ liquid carries more weight than its actual weight!

But why?

It’s because oil only becomes anointing oil, used to heal, deliver, empower, consecrate- IMPACT, when it itself is anointed with the Holy Spirit.

The weight of HIM, gives weight to it.

In Acts 10:28, Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power. No physical representation of pouring or smearing oil was done, as far as can be inferred. That anointing was a fuel for the life of power, love, and goodness He displayed on earth. When we sanctify our choice of olive oils or scented oils, we are doing the same thing: anointing it to be a physical symbol of the Holy Spirit’s presence and weight for our use.

We are nothing without the anointing- it makes the difference. And that anointing is the Holy Spirit working upon us, in us, and through us! It is that same Holy Spirit that dwells in us that now dwells in the oil.

For this reason we CAN’T afford to stay lukewarm. We’re Anointed and Appointed. The Holy Spirit must be active in us and we in Him. As He is, so we are! Meaning, all that Jesus Christ did and was, (and MORE!), has He commissioned for us to do and become, as well!

Ways to Utilize My Oil

OIL IN MY LAMP– The world is getting dark! Unfortunately, similar to the 10 virgins in Matthew 25, you can’t borrow someone else’s preparedness!

The virgins were preparing to meet the Bridegroom and enter the grand wedding. Five virgins took this trivially, while the other five took it very seriously, taking their precious oil along their journey so their lamps won’t burn out.

Each trimmed and oiled lamp represents an ignited heart who’s light will point the way to the Truth- Him! The foolish virgins who allowed their lamps to burn out, and detoured to buy more, could not enter into the Kingdom because light gives sight and insight; now they could not see. They did not know the Way. They did not know Him!

According to Exodus 27: 20-21, the lamp in the tabernacle should NEVER burn out. It is our choice. Don’t wait until it’s night to start seeking God, because you may find it’s too late by then, and too dark to see. Keep your lamp burning ALWAYS. Retain your oil by fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit. Let him trim and transform your heart. Let Him ignite a passion and purpose within you, until the day you meet your King!

OIL OF JOY– That oil is one that rubs off. Unscented, yet everyone smells it. Not physical, but is perceived by others, and can be received by those who need it. Isaiah 61:3 confirms that God’s Hand and anointing on us gives us the power to give the oil of joy to those mourning.

But how do we pour out of an empty jar? We can’t, that’s how!

And that’s where the Holy Spirit continues to come in! (Can you now see how He is everything! Ahhh love Him!) Because He dwells in us, we are a part of Him and are opportune to bear His fruit. This includes the fruit of Joy! We don’t have to beg for it, but we must come to the revelation that happiness is based on life’s current happenings and Joy is a Spirit! It’s His Spirit.

Joy is constant in sadness, in grief, in smiles, in laughter- all of it. This is because Joy is eternal. It is affirmed through the finished work of Christ on the cross for the redemption of our souls. It is affirmed in our completion in Christ and the identity Jesus gave us in Him. It is affirmed because our story continues when we are no longer on this earth!

How could Jesus talk about having a joy set before Him during the most excruciating event of His life? Hmm He knew something. He caught a revelation! He knew of a glory to come for Himself and all those who believe on Him, while those who mocked Him couldn’t even think past their surrounding in that present moment. He had joy. They had smug smirks of fading happiness.

Joy comes from revelation, and when we embrace this oil, we can rub it on those who are in need of it! We can impart a gladness on them that’s not based on circumstance, and won’t be shaken by situations!

OIL THAT ANOINTS KINGS– David was anointed king, while still a shepherd boy. This oil set him apart for dominion. Some of us believe dominion means a castle and throne, but true dominion is sovereignty over domains and territories.

That’s why David ruled in the fields with sheep, bears, and lions, just as much as he ruled on the throne as King of Israel! He ruled on the battlefield against Goliath, and still ruled as a fugitive of King Saul! David’s anointing of Kingship and Priesthood was not determined by his environment or the situations he found himself in. With this oil resting on him, his authority was displayed everywhere he went!

King Jesus is He who will order and establish the throne of David in judgement and justice forever. And how blessed are we to have been made after the order of Jesus in a royal priesthood, joint-heirs with Him. Meaning, our kingship, priesthood, and ambassadorship started the day we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and took on the new man!

This anointing should not be used to take advantage of your authority, but to establish the Kingdom of God here on earth. Your presence must shift any room you walk into. The oil will remind you that you are an Image-bearer of God, and can speak declarations into decree! You can speak healing into lives and hearts. You have all-access clearance to superior wisdom and knowledge. You are anointed and appointed for assignment; this is your advantage!

OIL OF CONSECRATION– We are God’s dwelling place. His tabernacle and temple. In Exodus 30, there were specifications for making the anointing oil, but its use was even more specific: Anoint everything and make it holy, and ensure nothing unholy enters in or touches what has been made holy.

CONSECRATION. SANCTIFICATION.

Everything was set apart unto the Lord and none other. God is so adamant about holiness that if a priest entered in an unholy state, he did not exit alive… Yeah.

Now, imagine how He feels about we, His temple, His holy nation, set apart for His use, yet living in unholiness? Many are not being struck dead physically (thank You, Jesus), but something worse happens: A spiritual death as the Holy Spirit simply takes His leave.

By now we have gathered that there’s only more to this life in Christ. There is no oil of anointing for impact outside of Him. There is no advantage outside Him. So if He takes His leave because He cannot behold iniquity and unholiness, where would that leave us? Nowhere good, I can tell ya that!

Holiness maintains Oil. Oil ignites Fire. Fire reveals Instruction. Instruction aligns Purpose. Purpose produces Impact.

Keep yourself holy and flee from ANY appearance of evil. Stay in your Word and worship in Spirit and Truth. Obey His will and instructions. Nothing is worth losing the One who truly matters.

Also, consecrate more than yourself unto the Lord! Every single aspect of your life, like your home, spouse, children, finances, cars, health, all of it should be sanctified before God, as was done in the tabernacle. God doesn’t just anoint us for the assignment, He also anoints us for the attacks

It is written, “Touch NOT My anointed!” Just like the tabernacle, everything unholy stays out or finds out the magnitude of your God!

OIL TO FUNCTION– The anointing oil is our fuel for functioning! Like a plane, getting off the ground and shooting into purpose to reach a destination requires push and power. Like a car, running out of fuel means being stranded in the middle of the journey without reaching the goal. We can’t afford to miss the mark and Christ has provided all we need to achieve His will for our lives!

That’s why the hand of the Lord is upon us and He has anointed us to do so much! More than what seems possible sometimes. It’s because He is not expecting us to go at it alone. We have been anointed for our assignment!

This means everything He said in Isaiah 61, is our commission, even when we don’t feel up to the task. Our impact is witnessing to those who have not heard the good news! Our mission is preaching to the poor and setting the captives free. Our call is to heal the brokenhearted and exchange heaviness for praise. Our creed is proclaiming the acceptable year of our King and becoming trees of righteousness: the Lord’s planting!

It’s bigger than us, YES, but so is HE! That’s why maintaining the oil is costly. That’s why it weighs so much. Our gifts and callings won’t be understood by everyone, and that’s perfectly fine- it’s not a conference call. The anointing is what makes the difference, so do not despise it and all God has poured into you!

WE ARE OILED FOR IMPACT!
